POSITION TITLE: Speech Language Pathologist (SLP)
QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold proper state certification
REPORTS TO: Principal and/or other Supervisor
The SLP shall assess students and provide therapeutic intervention to students exhibiting speech, language and/or voice disorders to reduce problems impacting functioning in the educational setting. Duties shall include but are not limited to:
- Student screenings for determination of speech/ language evaluation needs
- Speech/ language evaluations and interpretation of results.
- Development of Individual Education Plans and implementation of treatment
- Maintenance of progress notes for progress monitoring and reporting.
- Collaborate with teachers to implement classroom activities and supports to promote speech and language skills of students.
- Provide staff development and support related to speech and language functioning of students.
- Demonstrate effective and positive interpersonal relationships with staff, students and community.
- Must be able to collaborate with peers, possess a positive attitude and be flexible with change.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations.
- Attend meetings and performs duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
- Serve on committees as assigned.
- Remain current on instructional practices in education. (e.g. instructional technology)
